These are to give you notice that said William Rand of Rye has become poor and ~ ever since the first day of April last ---in need of relief and been chargeable to the said town of Rye in which he is leagally settled and that said town has expended for his relief the following sum viz:
Nov. 27, 1815 to paid Joseph Remick for boariding said William from April 1 to this day. ----$ 20.00
and you being in the line of children and grand children to said pauper and of suffiecient ability to support him are requested to pay the said sum expended by said Town as aforesaid.

To the Judge of Probate for the County of Merrimack, in the State of New Hampshire.
RESPECTFULLY shews Stickney Robinson of Epsom, in the County of Merrimack, Yeoman, that he is Guardian of LAVINA ROBINSON and JOSEPH ROBINSON, minors, children and heirs of Joseph Robinson, late of said Epsom, deceased, by the appointment of the Judge of Probate for the said County of Merrimack; that his said Wards are seized each, of one undivided third part of a certain piece or parcel of land situate in Epsom in said County, containing about eighty-five acres, including the reversion of the widow’s right of dower therein, bounded on the north by land of Hazen K. Clark, on the east by Suncook river, on the south by land of James Clark and on the west by the highway leading from Buck street in Pembroke to Short falls, so called, in said Epsom, and that it is necessary for the support of his said Wards and will not be conducive to their interest to have the premises sold; wherefore he prays that he may be licensed and authorized to sell the same a public auction, according to the statute in such case make and provided.

Jethro and his wife with 1 male under 10 and 2 females under 10

MR. JETHRO PETTINGILL, informs that "on the 3d of November, 1828, EDWARD D. LORD of Epsom in the meetinghouse of the town aforesaid, asked me for whom I was calculating to vote. I told him I was going to vote for Jackson, i.e. for Jackson Electors. He, the said Edward D. Lord, then said if I did my pension would be stopped and I should have to go to jail."

1st NH Regt. 1776. Three years in Maj. Scott's Co., Col. Cilley's Regt. Mar. 6, 1777, and Capt. Munroe's Co., Feb. 14, 1781. In March 1790 he bought of Ephraim land in Epsom, NH on the Road from Deerfield to Pittsfield, and sold it Oct. 24, 1804 to Simon A. Heath. Other land was sold to John Godfrey, Nov. 9, 1805.

Land in Epsom part of lot 26 in the first range to take its beginning at the westerly end of said lot then to run easterly carrying the full width of the same to the road leading from Deerfield to Pittsfield. ALSO one acre on the easterly side of the ___ where the said Jethro Pettingill's house stand, said acre to take its beginning on the road at the line between No 26 and 27 then to run south easterly as said road runs one rod between said Jethro Pettingill's house then to run north easterly so far as within one rod of my barn then to run such a point to a line between 26 and 27 as will contain one acre.

I Jethro Pettingill of Epsom in the County of Rockingham and State of New Hampshire testify and declare that in the month of March one thousand seven hundred and seventy eight I enlisted as a private soldier in the Continental Army in the Revolutionary War against Great Britian in a company commanded by Captain Ebenezer Frye in Colonel Joseph Cilley's Regiment in the New Hampshire line, in the continental establishment - that I continued in said service until the end of the war when I was regularly discharged, and I further declare that when I left the service I received an honorable discharge which by some means or other is now lost, that I am now poor and in reduced circumstances and need the assistance of my country for support.

I Michael McClary of Epsom in the County of Rockingham and State of New Hampshire Esquire, testify and say that being an officer in the continental army in New Hampshire line at the time the said Jethro Pettingill engaged in the army, I am well knowing that he served in the same as a private soldier as he has stated in his affidavit and that he is also very poor and ___ and has been for more than twenty years and really stands in need of assistance from his country for support.

Before Hall Burgin of the Court of Common Pleas, I Jethro Pettingill aged 63, resident in the town of Epsom, in said County, who being first duly sworn according to law, doth, on his oath declare that he served in the Revolutionary War as follows: That in the month of March 1778 he enlisted as a private soldier in the company under the command of Cap. Ebenezer Frye, in Col. Joseph Cilley Reg., in the Continental Army, that he was in the battle against the British Army at Monmouth and that he served in said Regt. Until the end of the revolutionary war where he was discharged. The date of my original declaration in order to obtain a pension is the 14th day of April 1818. The number of my pension certificate is 11053. I have received a pension.

My occupation is a farmer but not of sufficient ability to pursue it. In my family residing with me, my wife Elizabeth, 63 years of age, one daughter 26 years Joanna. One 18 years Mary; one 16 years Elizabeth; one son 7 years, James. Their capacity to contribute to their support '96 not able to render any assistance toward my support.
