One of the earlier sources on the Hall family is the "History of Brookline, formerly Raby, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire: with tables of family records and genealogies" by Edward Everett Parker. In part, is states that William Hall Sr. was born in 1756, son of Samuel and Hannah (Kittredge) Hall, and married, Oct. 30, 1764, Mary Fletcher. He died in Brookline, July 24, 1797, leaving his son William Hall, Jr, as his only descendant in town. Ezra Stearns in his 4 volume set of New Hampshire genealogies writes the following:
William, son of Samuel Hall, was born in Bradford, January 29, 1737. After his father's fam-ily removed to Billerica, he lived there several years, and was baptized there as an adult, April 6, 1755. He removed, about 1768, to Brookline, New Hamp-shire, and there signed the Association Test, 1776, but probably was not in the military service. He married, in Billerica, October 30, 1764, Mary Fletch-er. They were the parents of seven children, of whom William and Stephen were born in Billerica. William Hall died July 23, 1794, in Brookline.
It would appear that his wife's name was Mercy, transcribed in New Hampshire vital records as 'Misay' and on her gravestone is "In memory of Mrs. Mercy Hall, consort of William Hall, who died Sept. 21, 1799." Her husband is buried next to her in the Lakeview cemetery, the cemetery he sold to the town of Raby (Now Brookline New Hampshire) for 12 Shilings in the 1780's. "In memory of Mr. William Hall who died July 23, 1797." The stone is clearly 1797, as opposed to Stearn's year of death as 1794.
