NH Births and Christenings 1714-1904

Clearly three sons of William and Mercy Hall raised families in Brookline, and son Oliver Hall removed to Warner, NH where he raised his family and died.
Stearns also makes an error, as his entry on the family continues as follows:
William (2), son of William (I) and Mary (Fletcher) Hall, born in Billerica, 1765, and bap-tized November 10, was taken by his parents to Brookline, New Hampshire, when about three years of age, and resided there till his death. He married Polly McAllister, and they were the parents of twelve children.

Nathan, 48

Less is known about Uriah Hall (born 1798) and his wife Hannah Shattuck, who were married in Brookline, NH, April 5, 1798. The 1810 census gives the family as having 3 males under the age of 10, one male age 10 to 16, one male 24 to 44 (Uriah), 2 females under 10, and one female 26 to 44 (wife Hannah). The couple are still living in 1850 in Brookline, both aged 72 with a Nathan, presumed son, age 48. Nathan would have been born about 1802, but nothing more has been found on him. Records also give a Mercy Hall, who is given as wife of Asa Wyman on her death record of 1852 in Tyngsboro, MA, parents given as Uriah and Hannah S. Hall and born Brookline, NH. This would give her birth year as 1800. Additionally, there is a Thurrey/Thursey Hall, who has two death records. One is from Goffstown, the other Grasmere, NH. She died single, age 94 July 8, 1902, born Brookline, NH July 27, 1808, parents Uriah Hall and Hannah Shattuck. Her name may be a variation on Thizra. Thursey and Mercy would be the two daughters from the 1810 census. The 1820 census shows an additional daughter, Abigail, born about 1811 and died, single, in Tyngsborough, MA, August 17, 1872.

The other males in the household in 1810, besides Nathan, include George Hall, who died in Tyngsborough, MA September 24, 1848. His death record gives his birth as in Brookline, NH, son of Uriah and Hannah Hall. His age at death would give him a birth year at 1806. The record also indicates he was married, but no marriage record has been found. This leaves two more males to complete the family as seen in 1810.

Uriah and Hannah were married in 1798, and Uriah Hall of Epsom was born that same year. Stearns, who has incorrect parents, gives his birth as June 6, 1798, but that cannot be verified. Suffice that he was born 1798, and is likely the namesake of his father. The connection to Tyngsborough, Massachusetts cannot be overlooked. Of the children of Uriah and Hannah Hall, Mercy Hall Wyman died in Tyngsborough; daughter Abigail died in Tyngsborough; son George died in Tyngsborough. Uriah Hall of Epsom married about 1825, Olive Rand, and had a son William R. Hall, who married Sarah A. Wyman, and died in Tyngsborough, MA.

Uriah, son of William (2) and Polly (Mc-Allister) Hall, was born in Brookline, New Hamp-shire, June 6, 1798, was a cooper, and expert at the trade. He married Olive Rand, daughter of Tobias and Mary Rand, born in Allenstown, New Hamp-shire, in 1809. Their children were: William, Lem-uel, Mary, Uriah, died young; Newell, Lucinda, Elizabeth, Sarah B. and Charles W
.

Stearns lists Uriah Hall as a son of William and Polly McAllister (which should be Mary McIntosh) and gives date of birth as June 6, 1798. Assuming the date of birth is correct (as his gravestone gives the year 1798) Uriah does not fit into the family, which has, without him, the 12 children with one child, Sarah born that same year. All births of the children, except Elizabeth F., can be found in NH Vital Records; Elizabeth is identified through marriage and death record. No such record exists for this family for a Uriah born 1798.
