Bought land in Epsom, NH 1761 from Abraham Libbey, came to town in 1767. Sold the land to son Simeon, the only Chapman in Epsom, NH 1790 census.
1761 R 109-476 Abraham Libbee of Epsom to Joseph Chapman of Exeter, land in Epsom containing 50 acres between Mr. Jonathan Chapman and Eliphalet Sanborn, being 25 rods in width and one mile in length.

Extensive 1812 pension papers, gives residence after the war as Farmington, Alexandria and Concord, NH. Enlisted at Barrington Sept. 12, 1814, discharged Portsmouth Sept. 29, 1814, private in Capt. Paul Montgomery Company of NH Militia, paid for 18 days. In declaration of August 26, 1851 he states he is age 54 and a resident of Alexandria, NH. No mention of family other than his wife, no parents or place of birth.
