Notes
General:
Death seen as 1750, which is incorrect as he is mentioned in will of his mother 1753. Died after 1767 (last date of a written deed) and may have died outside of NH.
Baptism from Greenland Church records.

Seems to be called John Jr. in most records, as the suffix Jr. tended to be fluid, and often depended on who moved in and out of town, or even who was recording deeds or town records. In Greenland, the elder John Allen was the cousin (son of Daniel) of John Allen Jr. When the Daniel Allen family group (including the elder John) left town about 1750, the Jr. was dropped for John, (son of Jude). It reappears about 1762, when his son John comes of age, and acquires the designation to differentiate him from his father.

On the taxroll in Greenland 1742, and 1743-1748 with Daniel Allen Jr., John Allen and John Allen Jr. Also taxroll of Greenland to 1750.

1751 A John Allen was appointed tythingman for Epsom in 1751.

John Mark Moses, Early Settlers of Epsom "In 1751 the Allen family came to Epsom, John and Jude." Jude arrives by deed 1779, though perhaps earlier.

The next two deeds could be this John Allen, but possibly his son John. It is possible John Allen and Mary (Fox) lived in Epsom for a time and raised their children there. Son Reuben went to Gilmanton, and is probably the connection to his brother John meeting Betty Hoitt of Gilmanton and marrying in Epsom, 1772.

1741 John son of John Allen Junr.

Note of Elaine Morris (2012) I believe it was Jonathan, son of John Jr (Jude, Charles), who had the guardian problems. It looks to me like Jonathan Jr was the one who married Keziah Hammond.
I'm not sure exactly when Jonathan (John Jr, Jude, Charles) was born, but we know he was not of age in 1746 when Jonathan Weeks (his great uncle) wrote his will, vol 33, p 400. His parents (John Jr & Elizabeth Cate) were m in 1738. We know from Deborah Locke Allen's will that Jonathan was John Jr's eldest son. He starts being named in deeds in 1764, so I put his birth as sometime between late 1739 and 1743. It couldn't be much later, as his son Jonathan Allen Jr took his portion of his father's estate in Sep 1781. Should we assume Jonathan Jr was 'of age'? If so, then he was born about 1760, which would push his father's birth to the earliest possible date - about 1739.
Jonathan married 'Betty' before 15 Jun 1767, and that was the earliest date he was recorded as a grantor in Rockingham. He was mentioned as grandson in the will of Tucker Cate, NH State & Provincial papers: vol 36, p 84.

1746 - Will of Jonathan Weeks of Greenland

I give unto John Allin son of the aforesaid John Allin Junr. 45 acres land marsh & flats in Greenland (after the death of his wife and John comes of age 21)

I hereby ordain the said John Allin Junr and Elizabeth Weeks my wife, sole executors. Proved July 31, 1748 - (caveat, July 19, 1749, by John Brackett gentleman and Samuel Weeks tanner, both of Greenland, against the probating of the will.)
