GAR Veteran's Widow Dies
EPSOM, June 14 - Mrs. Elizabeth McClary Bixby, one of Epsom's oldest residents, died a her home Sunday night, after several weeks' illness caused by a fall. Mrs. Bixby was born on June 11, 1849 in the house across the road from the home of her later years. She was the daughter of Joseph Blake Cass and Mary Lucy Brown; and was the second oldest of four sisters, two of whom survive her.
Mrs. Bixby was the widow of George S. Bixby, a veteran of the Civil war., whom she married on Jan. 1. 1867. She was a member of the Woman's Club and had been active in attending meetings and entertaining up until about two years ago.
Funeral services will be held at her home on Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Mary P. Philbrick of Epsom and Mrs. Alice J. Philbrick of Beverly, Mass.; two nieces, Miss Blanche C. Philbrick of Sanford, Me., and Mrs. Hazel P. Steele of Epsom; and one nephew, Ellsworth B. Philbrick of Epsom and Durham.
