CHICHESTER \endash Audrey Lake Hackney, 73, of Chichester died peacefully Sunday, August 31, 2014, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Audrey was born on October 30, 1940, in Pittsfield, the daughter of the late Kenneth C. and Doris (Mason) Lake of Chichester. She was a lifetime resident of Chichester living on a farm previously owned by the descendants of Thomas Lake.
Graduating from Concord High School, class of 1958, she began to work that Fall for the Farm Bureau Mutual Ins. Co., which later became The Concord Group Insurance Cos. Audrey retired in 2002 after working 44 years for the company.
During the period her children attended grade school, Audrey was active in the Chichester PTO, being its President for several years. Audrey and her husband, Bob, were active members of the local snowmobile club as Trailmaster, and Club Secretary for many years.
Audrey especially enjoyed spending time with her daughters and grandchildren and going out for breakfast with her husband. In winter, she loved snowmobiling, and crafts that included knitting, crocheting, embroidery, and card making with her family. In summer, she spent many hours gardening and working to improve their home and property overall. Photography was a great joy and she was seldom seen without her camera. She especially enjoyed traveling, making several trips with her husband or daughters. Audrey was very interested in Genealogy, in particular, the Chellis and Emily Call Family (she was 5th generation), the Thomas Lake Family (she was 8th generation), many of whom lived at the home she and her husband enjoy, and her Mother's family, the Robert Mason family.
Members of her surviving family include her husband, Robert J. Hackney of Chichester; three daughters, Pamela J. Gerow and her husband, Maurice, Pauline F. Nanjari and her husband, Leonardo and Theresa H.
