EPSOM \endash Mary E. (Fife) (Witham) Gammon, 97, passed away at her home on Thursday, June 2, 2016.
She was born in Epsom, on Nov. 25, 1918 to Fred and Ernestine (Montminy) Fife, where she grew up and attended school. She began her career as one of the first of four women to work at Sprague Electric, and then went on to serve most of her working years employed with the State of New Hampshire as an Office Manager for the Highway Department and the Department of Records and Archives, from which she retired.
She wed her first husband, Ned Witham in 1935 and was married to him until his passing in 1971. Together they had her only child, Shirley (Witham) Williams born in 1936, who passed well before her time in 2012. Mary wed her second husband, Francis Gammon in 1973, and became a widow again in 1978.
She most enjoyed entertaining people whether it be with her daughter Shirley as part of a singing Vaudeville act; playing the guitar, piano and accordion; or simply by telling inappropriate stories and jokes to her family and friends. Other interests included caring for her beloved pets, summer activities at Lucas Pond and Northwood Lake, puzzles and beating her grandchildren at cards and board games.
Even through her last moments she kept her strength, wit, young-spirited heart and mind and most of all the love for her family and friends. She leaves behind her two granddaughters, Liane "Tina" Alosa of Allenstown and Gina Alosa of Pittsfield; three great grandchildren, Sara Alosa Tremaine and her husband, Scott of Concord, Courtney Perkins of Providence, RI and Shane Perkins of Pittsfield; four great great grandchildren, Mikayla Magnell, Devan Bousquet, Jillian Magnell and Lexie Magnell all of Concord, and one great great great grandson, Shane Miller of Concord and several nieces and nephews. - See more at: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/concordmonitor/obituary.aspx?n=mary-e-gammon&pid=180223109&fhid=26964#sthash.jnsFXz8F.dpuf
