General Notes: Husband - Eli Sherburne Prescott

Prescott, Eli Sherbourne (1809-1879) born in Epsom, NH; later lived in Sackett
s Harbor, NY, where he married Nancy Bowen. From there the couple came to Chicago in 1833, where they purchased a lot and built a house on Lake Street between LaSalle and Wells streets; later built and lived in a brick home at the corner of Cass [Wabash] and Illinois streets, and on the Lake Street lot erected a large warehouse. In 1839, under President Van Buren, Prescott became the Receiver of the United States Land Office in Chicago, which office he held for two years (Chicago Democrat: 175 Lake); later served in the engineering department of the IL & MI canal construction; 1844 General Directory: h[ouse] cor Ill. and Cass, nearly opp Episcopal Church. In 1855 his wife Nancy died; there were two children: Frank M. and Edward; in 1857 Eli married Amanda Crandall of New York; from 1872 on lived in Waugekan, WI, where he died.

An unnamed son died Sept. 30, and a daughter Mary died Oct. 6 1826. Funeral for both on Oct. 7 by Mr. Caverno.

A SITUATION in Epsom, 1-4th of a mile west of the meetinghouse, on the main road from Portsmouth to Concord-consisting of four acres of land of good quality, and under good improvement, with an excellent water privilege for any kind of Mill machinery \endash a small dwelling house of three rooms, blacksmith's shop, one forge \endash a small barn.

NH Patriot 5-31-1830 REUBEN SANBORN - In Epsom, April 5th, Mr. Reuben Sanborn, aged 59. He was a believer in the doctrine of Universalist Salvation and died in the firm persuasion of happiness, through the atonement of his Savior.

General Notes: Husband - True Brown Marston

Marston Genealogy says he resided in Pittsifield and Chichester only, but Epsom, NH records show he was in Epsom, NH at least by 1859, and perhaps died in Epsom, NH as well as he is listed in Epsom, NH Town records. He is not buried in Epsom, NH, which would make the possiblilty that he died elesewhere, most likely Chichester.
Marriage records show in Epsom, NH, Sept. 26, 1862 he married Martha A. Buzzell, age 27, born Epsom, NH, but there are conflicting dates.
