A certain piece of land, in the town of Meredith, which is my homestead farm, containing 50 acres, it being out of lot No. 4 in the fith range and first deivision, to be taken off the south side of said lot. Also one other piece of land containing 2 acres and 19 rods....except a privilege reserved to the widow Deborah Mead to make the cider which she annual makes in the cider mill that belongs to said farm.

A certain piece or parcel of land in Meredith which was the homestead farm of Reuben Marston Sr., as by said Marston's deed to me will appear, also one other piece of land containing 2 acres and nineteen square rods, the same being purchased of Reuben Morgan (Marston?) containing in the whole, 52 acres and 19 rods, with the buildings thereon.
The History of Durham traces mainly two Bickford lines. The predominant Epsom line is from Thomas Bickford, born 1640 who married Joanna Libbey. They had a son John who married Elizabeth Tibbetts, who in turn had son Thomas who married Esther Adams. Of this family, sons Thomas and Samuel were of Epsom, son John ws of Barnstead, son Joseph had the Madbury home farm, and son Charles.
The other Bickford line followed is that of Thomas born 1660 son of John and Temperane) who married Bridget Furber. Of this family were sons John, Eleazer who married Sarah Johnson, Joseph and Thomas.
Eleazer married Sarah Johnson of Greenland, and only five children's names are found in Church records: Brdiget, baptized at Greenland, 1723; Ebenezer, 1725 at Oyster River; Eleazer, 1727/8 at Oyster River; Sarah 1729 at Oyster River; and Margaret, 1740 back in Greenland. There is no information on the next genereation of this family in the History of Durham, except three children born to Ebenezer and wife Elizabeth Critchett. By 1751, Sarah (Johnson) Bickford is a widow, meainng Eleazer had died leaving some minor children.
John Bickford is not recorded anywhere in records to date. He is placed in this family through primarily the research done on his descendants. Certainly he would have been a minor at the time of his father Eleazer's death, and with a son born 1766 (Jonathan) he would have been born, say, 1742 or earlier. As a fatherless minor child, it is hard to say if he was raised by his mother or another family. Eleazer is the only Bickford found with ties to Greenland. Both his sister Bridget and Margaret where baptised there, and his mother, Sarah Johnson, was of a large contingent of Johnson families in that town. In all the other Greenland records of this time period, only one Phebe shows as a possible spouse, Phebe Johnson, daughter of Nathan Johnson, who was baptised in Greenland in 1743.
Only the children of John and Phebe (Johnson) Bickford continue the use of the family names Eleazer, John and Ebenzer for several generations. John buys his land in Epsom in 1778 from Bracket Johnson, and the name Bracket Bickford appears in this line for several generations. Perhaps the Johnson family helped in the raising of John after the death of his father.
John and Phebe name children Jonathan, John, Elinor (after his grandmother, whose last name was Brackett), Sally (Sarah) after his mother, Eleazer (after his father), Prisciall, and perhaps a Joseph. His son Jonathan names chidlren Lydia (after his wife's mother) Bracket (perhaps after Bracket Johnson, or his grandmothers father), Jonathan, Phebe (after his mother), John, Ebenezer (after a brother to his father), Priscilla (after his sister), James, Abigail and Mahala.
John and Phebe's son John names a son Ebenezer.
Son Eleazer names a son Eleazer.
And the same continues into the next generation with additional Brackets, Eleazer and Ebenezers.
