Haley Genealogy gives his date of birth as Jan. 6, 1745/46

1790 Census: (at which time he would have been married to Lydia less than 1 year and seen as Edward in Chichester NH Census)

1 Free white male 16 years of age and upwards incl. Head of Household. This would be Edmund.

2 Free white males under the age of 16.

3 Free females, one including his wife Lydia and 2 other females.

As his wife Lydia was married previously, and Edmund at the time of marriage would have been near 45, he most likely also had a previous marriage.

1800 Census:

1 male 10 and under 16 had to have been born 1784-1790
1 male 45 and upward, this would be Edmund
1 female 16 and under 26 would have to have been born 1774-1784
1 female 26 and under 45 would have had to been born prior to 1774
1 female 45 and upward, this would be his wife Lydia

Therefore it would be unlikely that any except perhaps the male, could be children of Edmund and Lydia (marrige intention August 12, 1789)

The Genealogy of the Rand Family by Florence Osgood Rand lists children of Edmund and only mention "married Lydia". Town records of Chichester support the marriage of Edmund to Lydia (Haley) Langmaid in 1789, therefore, all the children listed must be by an earlier marriage. Epsom Church records record the renewing and owning of Edmund Rand and Abigail his wife July 22, 1770. Also given are July 22, 1770 "Betty ye Daughter of Edmd Rand & his Wife ws Bapt." and Sept. 29, 1771 "Mary ye Daughter of Edmund Rand & his Wife ws Bapt." These records of Rev. Tuck do not go beyond Dec. 1774, and either there were no other children were born or they were reported in Chichester rather than Epsom.
