As to his birth, some sources say he was "from England" however, in the town records for the death of his son Daniel H., it lists the birthplace of his father as Tyngsboro, MA. In the 1936 town records on the death of his daughter Mary F. (married James Batchelder), his place of birth is given as Brookline, as it is also in the records of the death of his daughter Ellen M. (married Hill) and daughter Hannah (married Roberts, d. 1934).

George H. Yeaton in his Epsom memoirs writes: Benjamin Hall, who was born in England was the son of ? He died in Epsom January 10, 1884. Age 79 years 8 mo. If one were to go up the mountain road about one-forth of a mile distance, from the home of Flora D. (Hall) Sullivan the great granddaughter of Benjamin Hall, of England, they would find a small field on the west side of the highway it was at this place that Benjamin Hall lived. It has been handed down from his son Daniel H. Hall (Co.E, 11 Reg. N.H. Vol. Civil War) to his son Benjamin Hall and is now owned by the son of Benjamin, Max Hall.
All that is left to show where the original Benjamin Hall farm was, in the early days of the settlement of "New Portsmouth." is the house cellar partly filled. The remains of the foundation where the barn stood and the large lilac bush near the house cellar, in the small clearing.
At the date when this farm was one of the fertile and prosperous farms in this community, it consisted of twenty or more acres of land where the building were, together with eighteen or more acres on the opposite side of the highway, mostly field land in the eighteen acre trait.
Benjamin Hall first lived on Center Hill Road, as he bought a house and land there in 1830 before moving to the Mountain Road. Uriah Hall owned land on Center Hill Road, near the junction with Sanborn Hill Road about 1825, sold by his heirs in 1865.
Benjamin Hall of Epsom was born May 11, 1805, and despite the various places of birth given on records of his children (Brookline, NH, Brookline, MA and Brooklyn, MA), it can be presumed he was indeed born in Brookline, New Hampshire. One son, Daniel H. gives birth place as Tyngsborough, MA., and given the other associations of members of this family, could be an obvious error. No death location has been found for Uriah and his wife Hannah, and they may have spent their last years with one of their children, perhaps in Tyngsborough.

It is possible to believe that our Martha is related to the later one shown in
the LDS IGI as; Martha GFFIN (F), DOB 05 AUG 1866 at Chichester Twp.,
Merrimack, New Hampshire. Father; Harrison GIFFIN (no mother listed). Note
that Chichester is quite close (geographically) to Deerfield (NH). See below

In an early letter from the family, some of the text was lost because the
church PAF program (which this record was originally recorded in) doesn't
allow notes editing in any normal manner.
It said partially;
At the Y of the road in Epsom, New Hampshire leading up to the old DOWST
farm, is buried Martha Griffin, an indian squaw, killed at that spot, she is
related to us about three generations back (writes a relative).
One of the GRIFFIN boys married her. To make it short, you can say, you are
descendents of the ABENAKI, PENNACOOK tribes on Caroline L DOWST ROBYside of the family.

She is recorded as having died (a widow) in the New Hampshire State Hospital,
aged 79 years. She was an inmate for 3 1/2 years. Cause of death given;
arterio sclerosis. Contributing cause; Senile Dementia.
Her parents were described as having been inmates at the Deerfield County
Farm. She is also described, in the official record, as being of Pennicock
Indian ancestry.
She is buried in the McClary Cemetery on Center Hill Road in Epsom, New
Hampshire. She lies with her husband Ozem,Sr. and her son, George W Dowst.
From the road, the plot is in the section to the right, against the fence,
nearly under a pine tree at the fence-line. There is a single stone,which I
