General Notes: Wife - Ellen Sarah Wallace

Seen also as Nellie Wallace.
Two children by first marriage.
Notes from Judith Anne Yeaton (Berton Gardner Yeaton/Herbert Gardner Yeaton/ Sarah Ellen Wallace/George Benjamin Wallace]

"The Family Group records for Alvin Garnder Yeaton, GrGF (my Great Grandfather), show he was married 4 times. His first wife, Sarah Ellen Wallace had 2 children from a first marriage to Alfred Addis who was a bit of a scoundrel. The only time he and Sarah Ellen, aka Nellie, visited her father in Utah, Alfred was asked to transport a bed that had been given to George Benjamin Wallace by Brigham Young. Instead, Alfred made off with it and there had never been any trace of it found. Needless to say, the Wallaces were less than happy. Nellie divorced him soon after. There were alot of hard feelings between the Utah family and the Epsom, NH families of Wallace and McMurphy, George Benjamin's first wife's family, because he took plural wives. He was one of the first Mormon's granted this "privilege" by Brigham Young. The practice of plural wives was at first restricted to men who were very important in the church and could prove they had the means to support several families. When George Benjamin's first wife refused to become Mormon, he left her and his children in Epsom, NH while he went off to Utah and married several more times."

Birth year also seen in notes of second husband as 1845

Notes: Marriage

Marriage ended in divorce, papers of which were held in 1890 by Alvin Gardner Yeaton.
