Michael most recently appeared as Juror #3 in the Pittsfield Player’s production of “12 Angry Men.” Prior to that he directed “1000 Clowns”, and was Abel in “State Fair”. Other Player’s productions include “Peter Pan”, “My Favorite Year”, “Harvey”, “You Can’t Take It With You”, and “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”. Michael also directed “Guys and Dolls” and “Fiddler on the Roof” for the Pittsfield Players.

Michael Leonard Chagnon, 53, of Loudon Road, Concord, died Sept. 15, at the Concord Hospice House following a brief illness.

He was born in Concord, the son of Leonard and Thresa (Riel) Chagnon. He was raised in Pittsfield and was a graduate of Pittsfield High School, class of 1971. He was also a graduate of Keene State College. He was a lover of the theater and worked in New York City. He had small roles in several movies and at the Metropolitan Opera. He was featured in many productions of the Pittsfield Players, most recently State Fair, 12 Angry Men and 1776. He also starred in the Concord Community Theater's production of Peter Pan, as Captain Hook.

He was employed by the Concord school district as a special needs teacher and had also worked for the Pittsfield School District.

He is survived by his parents of Concord; two brothers, Steven Chagnon and his wife, Marcia, of Loudon and Matthew Chagnon and his wife, Karyn of Concord; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and great-nieces.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, River Road, Pittsfield.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pittsfield Players.
