NHVR Deaths: George A. Pike, died Epsom, NH, resident 19 years, died Mar. 18, 1900, age 62-9-22, born Epsom, May 26, 1837, father Justice Pike, born Kingsborough, MA and Charlott Murdough, born Hillsborough, NH. Reported by Dr. Roscoe Hill of Epsom.
George and Charlotte (Pike) Murdough resided 1880 in Chichester, NH (Chichester border Epsom, NH) where he died 1889, and was cared for by Dr. Roscoe Hill of Epsom (NHVR death record). Chichester NH town report for 1890 includes deaths for 1891, January and February; the 1891 annual report starts deaths with the month of May, meaning March and April deaths did not get recorded. It is likely that Dr.Hill also cared for Charlotte, and liikely made out a death record with her parents names, though the record did not make it into Chichester records. He also was the doctor signing the death record for George A. Pike when he died in Epsom 1900. Dr. Hill obviously knew both Charlotte and George, and likely aware of their relationship as brother and sister, though probably not aware she was actually a step sister, having a different mother. On the death of George A., he perhaps wanted to refer to the parents of Charlotte when making out his death record, unaware they had different parents, or perhaps inadvertently used her las name, Murdough. Regardless of theobvious error, Justice Pike's first wife died afther the birth of her only daughter, and George, as seen in the 1850 Census, is the son of Justice and his second wife Mary Barker.
