Charles W. Leighton

Enlisted Oct. 17, 1861 at Epsom. Wounded slightly May 6, 1864, Petersburg, VA, wounded in the head June 16, 1864 Shand House, VA. Appointed Corporal June 3, 1863 at Stanford, KY. Discharged May 27, 1865. Member GAR Post 66. Born in Newmarket, NH March 02, 1841, son of William B. Leighton and Debra Cate. He married on August 17, 1862 in Epsom, Eliza Jane Bickford. His only brother, Lauren, died in this Regiment. He married second, April 11, 1903, Ella A. Nutter. He died in Epsom, NH October 27, 1926, and is buried in the Gossville (Hopkinson) Cemetery..
