Austin E. Sanborn

From the GAR Post 66 book:

"Austin E. Sanborn was Born in Epsom Date of Birth unknown. He enlisted at Concord N.H. as Private in Co. E 17^th United States Infantry. Comrade Sanborn Died in Concord N.H.

Since the above was recorded the following information has been learned in relation to comrade Austin E. Sanborn. He enlisted May 20^th 1862 to serve three years. He was engaged in the following Battles Chancellorsville May 1^st 1863, Battle of Gettysbury July 1^st & 2^nd 1863 in the latter of which he was severely wounded in the right shoulder. He was (born) in Epsom N.H. Feb. 3^rd 1837 and died in Concord N.H. January 11^th 1873 of Pneumonia. He was buried in McClary Cemetery, Epsom."

Note: No burial marker is known for him in the McClary Cemetery.
