COMMENTS - I suspect that as one of the few “rookies” in the cast that I’ve experienced the typical roller coaster ride ranging from initial ego deflation (read: “o-my-god what have I gotten myself into”) to stumbling and bumbling through lines and songs for weeks on end until gradually falling into the inside jokes (Button, Button, where is that Button?) and, ultimately, finding myself as a small part of an extraordinarily focused and dedicated team. It was a real lesson in humility to realize that the quality of this production depended upon a trickle-down effect; and although we actors are probably a little more than animated props, we had no room for that overblown egotist in the cast. Well … ok, we got to take turns.

Hats off to cast, staff, musicians and crew (and great audiences!) for the experience of a lifetime and, hopefully, a lifetime of new friends. And thanks to my family for putting up with this “strutting popinjay’s” impromptu outbursts of song and dialog snippets about the house along the way … ok, the earworms continue post production and the response I’m getting to “Sit down, John” has now turned to “Shut up, Rob!”

Lastly, I regret my inability to adequately list the many funny and poignant memories of this run of 1776 with the Pittsfield Players; so I’ll close with a comment to my fellow conservatives from the South: “Thank God y’all saw the light and God Bless America!”
